TITLE : Agency Manager

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES: I run the Fashion Boards for both Men and Women. I book models on Print, Runway, and Editorial jobs, as well as work on placement of models in other markets worldwide.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN AT PAGE PARKES: Just celebrated my 9th year!

YOU HAVE YOUR RADAR ON? Anything and everything going on in the city as far as fashion events to get out there and promote our company and our models! It's all about relationships...

FAVE AGENCY MOMENT: My favorite moments are laughing in the office with my co-workers. Whether it's a kookie call we get from someone, or a giant bug that has somehow made it through our sealed closed windows, we are blessed enough to have a very cohesive family-like team that works well together. And I'm not above playing the occasional practical joke on a co-worker : )))

WHAT DO YOU LOOK FOR: A great look, body, and walk are obviously important, but for me it's all about the attitude and personality. We are friendly people here, that want to help deserving people succeed. My favorite models are the ones that check in with me, return calls/email quickly, and are available for the jobs! Pet peeve: people who complain about no work, but turn down jobs when called and don't update their pictures regularly.

SUCCESS STORY: One of the biggest success stories I've had a personal hand in, would be Josh Connally. Initially turned down by the agency, he reapplied and was accepted and shortly thereafter took off! He stopped modeling shortly for a tour in the military where he served our country well, then came back and went straight back to work in the modeling business. He worked very hard locally, doing anything and everything that came his way, without a big thought to the money (as it should be in the beginning!). He followed every piece of advice, re-shot his pictures regularly, and when the time came, began to travel. Over the years I've had the opportunity to get Josh placed and traveling all over the country and world, including New York, Miami, Dallas, San Francisco, New Zealand, Germany, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Guangzhou, South Korea, Tokyo, and I'm sure I'm leaving some out! He is bar none, one of the easiest models I have ever worked with. He is incredibly self-reliant, smart, doesn't ask a lot of questions that he can figure out himself, keeps track of his paperwork; an agent's dream! I never had to walk him through getting his work visas, making travel arrangements for him, arranging model apartments, anything! I would definitely consider Josh a success. Not only of mine, but definitely of himself. He has since returned to Houston, and works with us still to this day, and hopefully for many more years to come. : )

Show & Business

Children’s Workshop

Ricki Maslar & Robert Haas

This seminar was created as an overview of the film industry for aspiring actors of all experience levels. Actors who have had no experience or extensive experience in other mediums will benefit from learning the basic on and off camera techniques that are so vital to a working film actors. From the audition process to film set protocol to character analysis, this is the “what you always wanted to know…” workshop from the perspective of a film actor.

The seminar consists of a 3 hour session as follows…

The Business of the Business with Ricki Maslar and Robert Haas

As a team Robert and Ricki talk to the parents and the children, speaking about the business and take questions for about an hour. We cover the basics of protecting kids in the business, how to be a positive stage parent, when to call and when not to call your agent, what to look for in a headshot, etc. We will then break into two groups… Robert will continue to talk to the parents and speak to them about the business and their roles and also address any questions that they have.

Ricki stays with the young actors and continues to work with the kids, giving them scenes and rehearsing them for a mini showcase and presentation of the kids with scenes to Robert, who will redirect them and work with them. The parents are invited to watch the scenes in the showcase format.

The work with the kids includes some imagination games, some improvisation, talk about auditioning, movies, and performing a paired scene which will be presented to Robert and the parents.

This seminar is not intended to impart one particular method of acting to the actors, but rather open them up to a broad realm of education and opportunities available to them.
