Karina Junker: The New Voice of The Special Olympics!

Congrats to our talent Karina Junker for landing the coveted role as the voice of The Special Olympics! We caught up with her to get the inside scoop. Amazing to see how hard work and dedication can make your dreams come true!

1. What was the experience like?
It was wonderful! I'm so glad to be affiliated with such a beautiful organization. I'm very grateful to everyone at Special Olympics for selecting me to be the voice of their campaign.
2. How did this amazing opportunity come about?
I was actually in Miami for Miami Music Week when I got the email from the producer at LatinWorks. I had worked with LatinWorks on two other occasions. They were interested in hearing my audition for this, so I went to the studio in Miami to record them. LatinWorks contacted me a week later to let me know the creatives were very happy with my auditions and that I had been selected for the job. I was overjoyed!

3. How has Los Angeles been for you?
LA has been phenomenal. I lived there from 2002 to 2003, but then got accepted to Columbia University in NYC, so I left. I never thought I'd be back, but after a meeting with my agents at Page Parkes in 2010 it was very clear I had to return to have opportunities I wouldn't have in NYC.
Los Angeles has made my career blossom these past three years. I've had quite a few accomplishments; I work relentlessly towards my goals.  Nothing has fallen on my lap -- I hustle 24/7. I definitely think that's an essential part of my success. I also meditate every day and do creative visualization.

4. How has Page Parkes helped you on this journey?
Page Parkes has been instrumental. I will always be grateful to my first agent there, Michelle Sanchez. She opened the door for me five years ago. I absolutely love everyone there, it's like I have another family, they have my back.
It's VITAL to have a great working relationship with your agents. You have to remember that your agent could represent you for one year or your whole lifetime... if you're fabulous. 😉
They helped me in setting up meetings with potential agents in LA back in 2011 and I signed with Reign, my commercial agency, because of them. Love you guys! ❤️

#ModelMonday: Jason Bergstrom

Our #ModelMonday goes out to Jason Bergstrom! This down to earth, yet extreme athlete is represented by Page Parkes Houston and Dallas. He has recently been spotted on the this month's cover of 002 Magazine and on the runway of West Ave's Fashion Show. Let's get to know our rising star a little bit better!

1. How were you scouted and why Page Parkes?
I did a commercial for the Houstonian Club with Lisa Malosky.  Lisa, a friend of Page, sent over my video and I got an opportunity to work for Page Parkes.

2. Tell us a little bit about yourself, I hear you are an AMAZING swimmer!
I like to have fun (ask anyone who’s seen me on the dance floor), I love learning, I read a lot, I love to help others do things they haven’t done before, I enjoy being with friends and family, I have a natural ambition to succeed in all areas of my life, I like leading others and look forward to becoming a role model on a bigger stage. As for swimming, I was a 6-time All-American swimmer at Texas A&M, current school record holder in 3 events, and was off and on for training for the 2012/2016 Olympic Trials. I love the sport of swimming! I’ve had my peace with my personal swim aspirations and continue to help others achieve their personal swim goals through coaching.

3. Have you faced any major challenges in your life? If so, do tell how you overcame them!
I’ve faced many challenges in life and I continue to find new challenges. Life is full of challenges! I have overcome challenges by keeping a willingness to succeed, courage to face anything, and ability to let things happen as they are supposed to. Things don’t always turn out like I want them to. I’ve learned its how I pick myself up from a loss that builds my true character.

4. What are your future goals?
I want to book a national campaign with a top designer by the end of 2014, I want to work in multiple markets (LA, NY, Miami, Milan, Paris) after Agent Review in May 2014, I want to start working on my acting skills and step into acting (I always thought I’d play a good boyfriend in a Taylor Swift music video), and inspire others to do what makes them come alive in the process!

5. What's on your iPod right now?
I’ve been into the Arctic Monkey’s recently. Good vibes! Fun to listen to just about anywhere.

6. What inspires you everyday?
People with courage who do what makes them come alive! We only get one life so I want to live it to the fullest!

7. Who would you love modeling, walking, or working for?
Too many to choose!!! Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, Tom Ford, John Varvatos, Lacoste, Saint Laurent, Burberry, J. Crew, Nike and Tommy Hilfiger.

8. Any tips you can give guys trying to make it in this business?
Be patient with your self! Trust your agents! Don’t take casting personal! Stay in shape and have fun!

Thanks so much Jason and we cannot wait to see more of you on the runway!

Under the Gunn: Almost at the End

Last night on Project Runway's Under the Gunn, the last four contestants battled it out in a Superhero challenge to win a coveted spot in the finale next week. For the challenge, the designers went to a comic book store where they met Cort Lane (Marvel's VP of Animation Development). From there, each chose a Marvel superhero that they were inspired by. The guest judge for this episode was Jaimie Alexander, who plays Lady Sif in Thor and Thor: The Dark World.

Read more to see the judges' final decision (spoilers ahead if you haven't seen it yet!).

Bianca Linette Does Hair/Makeup for Lorde!

We are excited to finally announce Bianca's latest opportunity: assisting hair and makeup for singer-songwriter Lorde in Fashion Magazine!!! What an amazing and unforgettable experience!

1. What was it like working with one of the top artists this year and the team for Fashion Magazine?
Working with Lorde and assisting Fashion Magazine was such an amazing experience! The production team was very sweet and the whole time we just had a blast!

2. What was the hair and makeup for the shoot?
The makeup look was just very soft, dewy and natural. The hair was very tossed and the style we were going for is the bed-head look. She actually loves how her hair is naturally!

3. How did the day go?
The day in general was very energetic. As soon as Lorde arrived, everyone just got in gear and did an amazing job! The styling, photographer, and location was too cool!

We are so proud of you Bianca and all of your accomplishments! Feel free to see more behind-the-scene photos and pictures of her work on Instagram (@biancalinettehmu)
